Tonight I logged on and saw a girl younger than me, prettier than me, in a kitchen fancier than mine, looking happy and festive and stylish and happy that’s not a typo she was just extra happy looking cuz she was smiling with her big white teeth that probably cost $20,000 MY POINT HERE is that this app is bullshit LITERALLY NO ONE is living a perfect life. She might have fancy veneers and a fancy kitchen but what if her husband works 80 hours a week to afford teeth and Subzeros? Maybe they rarely see each other. She’s raising kids by herself. Her son is always in trouble at school. She’s lonely. She’s alone with her perfect teeth and crazy kid.
Y’all life is hard. Nothing is as it seems. My first pic doesn’t prove a perfect life. It only proves that I had a sweet moment with my youngest child. The second pic is the norm. A sour face. A cranky, tired, mom face. My normal face. This is real life. Don’t let social media trick you. Take in the sights and sounds because they are lovely but don’t get tricked by the smoke and mirrors. We are ALL in the same boat together. Except some are in first class and we’re in steerage.
But there’s music in steerage. And beer.
(It’s 10:30 on a Friday night and no one is even on IG to even read this post but I’m posting it anyway. I’m growing as a person, y’all.)
