It’s crazy how your weaknesses start to change when you begin to change and alter your habits😱 The past few months I’ve slowly been making changes in my life and consumption choices aiming for less processed and clean ingredient foods. I am absolutely no where near perfect but i think it is most ideal to strive for progress in life over perfection✨ Since I’ve started this new journey my body VERY rarely craves any of the shitty junk food it use to. I use to get cravings for burgers, going out to ice cream, fast food, candy bars etc. And more recently I crave açaí bowls, @so_delicious ice cream, @hailmerrysnacks and home made goodies🤗 It truly is amazing how your body and mind respond to the changes you make in life. My food mantra: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you don’t recognize the ingredients, your body won’t either. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are some quick tips for label reading: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ Check out the added sugars. That line should be a low number! **Ideally 0️⃣ ✔️Quantity of ingredients is listed from greatest to least. The first item listed is the bulk of the item! That being said, the less ingredients, the better! ✔️Don’t fall for the front of the package claims ‘whole wheat’ or ‘Gluten free’ doesn’t always mean it’s healthy. ✔️Look for high fiber. 2-5 grams per serving is great. ✔️Skip anything hydrogenated or that says Trans-fat ✔️Just say NO to high-fructose corn syrup ✔️Check the serving size. ✔️Watch out for enriched flour. It’s just white flour and is typically paired with extra sugar. ✔️Protein: most women do get enough, but to be sure, aim for 5-15 grams with your meals and snacks. This is depending on your goals as well! ✔️Fats: not all fats are bad! Keeping saturated (excluding coconut oil) on the low end is best. ✔️Carbs: don’t be scared of these! As long as they are paired with a good amount of fiber you’re good to go. Think 2 grams of fiber per every 100 calories. ✔️Calories: not to say these don’t matter at all, but there is a lot of research behind ‘not all calories are created equal’. Machines are great pieces of kit, allowing you to isolate muscle groups whilst making sure you are stable. They are also near impossible to use incorrectly. This makes them a very simple first port of call. - Next up is introducing free weights. There are plenty great online platforms to learn how to lift free weights, however, for me nothing beats being coached properly. - Everyones body moves differently, so having a coach to look over technique is invaluable in learning correct form to get the best out of your training and so you’re not learning bad habits. - Lifting isn’t scary, its not something you should stress out about or worry. self-talk 💙 . I’m going to be honest, when I saw this photo of me, my self talk wasn’t very nice at all. I’m not going to go into details, but it was all about my physical features - JAC, YO! Where your head at??? You’re so much more than this physical body you’re experiencing life through. . I had to check myself. Why are we so damn quick to talk shit to ourselves? “You won’t get that job.” “You’re fat, watch it bitch.” “Why even ask? The answer is probably no.” “It better be perfect, or you’re not good enough.” “Vulnerability is weakness.” “What will they think of me if I post this?” . I used to talk to myself like that. It wasn’t until I truly stopped caring what other people thought of me that I became TRULY happy. I stopped caring what people thought about my career path, my body, my personality (I used to be worried to show my true colors because I was labeled as “goofy” and “weird.”), and just altogether what people thought of me. If I fucked up, SO WHAT! If I said something stupid, WHO CARES! If I wear yoga pants where you can see my cellulite, IDGAF anymore!!!!!! I expelled way to much energy on that shit. Now, I couldn’t be happier... AND healthier. . You guys, cleaning up the self talk positively influences SO MUCH for your health. Talking to yourself as if you’re your best friend is truly LIFE-CHANGING! I wake up with gratitude, because I love this life. I set my intentions right away in the morning, because I want to live a life of my dreams. I eat healthy AF food because I love making myself feel energized, healthy, and clear-headed. I fucking LOVE my goofy-ness/weirdness; it’s what makes me Jac. And I’ll tell ya what : I’m happy as HELL and I’ve forgiven old Jac for treating me that way. Mix together and split into 4 equal burgers. Oven cook on 180 for 20-25 mins, try not to turn them or they’ll break.
